		Consumer Prices Indices (CPI): Tables CPI and CPI12 Product   Shows Consumer Prices Index back to 1996 (table CPI) and percentage change over 12 months (table CPI12). The CPI is the main UK measure of inflation for macroeconomic purposes and forms the basis for the Government's inflation target. It is also used for international comparisons. This had previously been published as the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) until December 2003.
