ONS Simplification Plan: Reducing the administrative burden caused by ONS business surveys

As a result of the cross-government Administrative Burdens Reduction Project, completed in 2006, government departments were set targets to reduce burden on business. These reductions were based on the Administrative Burdens Measurement Exercise (ABME) which gave a consistent measurement of burden across government departments. Each department is required to produce an annual Simplification Plan detailing progress towards these targets.
The Plan includes all business surveys for which ONS has direct responsibility but not those conducted for other Government Departments or agencies.
