Product
An analysis of trends in inflation since 1947 as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI). The available information includes: Indices, weights and percentage changes for RPI components; Items used to represent households' expenditure, and how these have changed over time; and Average prices for a selection of items.
The analysis presents trends in the composition of households' expenditure, as shown by the weights used to construct the RPI, and examines how this is reflected in the range of representative items included in the RPI basket. It also looks at trends in inflation, and compares average prices of selected products over the years.
