Better or worse: a longitudinal study of the mental health of adults living in private households in Great Britain
Product
The report describes a longitudinal study based on two surveys carried out by the Office for National Statistics among adults living in private households in Great Britain. The first survey covered adults aged 16 to 74 and was carried out in 2000. The second survey followed up a proportion of the sample from the original survey approximately 18 months later in 2001. This report considers the extent of onset and recovery from common mental disorders, including substance use, and suicidal thoughts over that 18 month period and factors associated with these changes. It also considers treatment and services received for mental health problems and a range of measures of quality of life.
These National Statistics are produced to high professional standards and released according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
