Investing in each other and the community: the role of social capital
This article examines trends in social capital over time, by location and through different sub-groups of the population
The United Kingdom has a long tradition of civic culture with high levels of social trust, and political and civic participation. Indicators of social capital such as civic engagement, social trust, political trust and participation, and perceptions of the local neighbourhood have however, demonstrated mixed results over recent years.
This article examines trends in social capital over time, by location and through different sub-groups of the population.
