This article is the latest in a series reporting on the development of the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP). The main focus of this article is to describe recent methodological developments where two new regulations covering proportionally charged service charges, and common rules for HICP revisions, came into effect with the January 2002 index. It also describes, the extension to coverage of goods and services where financial services expressed as a proportion of the transaction value are included in the HICP for the first time.
