Explains progress made in developing the monthly IoS, including improvements to data sources and methods and speeding up publication of the experimental index. It sets out future development plans
This article provides an update on the progress made on the experimental IoS project, since the series was launched in December 2000. The article explains the achievements made with the project so far. These include the introduction of new data sources for the motor trade and wholesale industries, following industry reviews of these sectors, the dropping of the experimental label of the IoD and the speeding up of both the IoD and IoS so that they are published around 9½ weeks after the end of the month.
The article also sets out the future development programme, including the future industry review programme and the intention to improve the timeliness of both the experimental IoS and IoD publications.
