This article introduces a new ONS initiative to develop UK Health Accounts. Initial work will focus on the development of a health expenditure account covering the public and private sectors across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. In a later stage, further information would be brought into the framework, allowing the study of the linkages between inputs (including expenditure), throughputs, outputs and outcomes. The article encourages potential users to notify the ONS of their uses, and asks for volunteers to sit on a Project Board to steer the work of the Project.
